Pros: The Retreat has a lot of curb appeal. It is a beautiful community with really nice amenities, updated appliances, a nail salon on-site & much more. It also has a very home-y feel & it's nice to not have to deal with as much noise as you might in an apt, where ppl are living above & below you. No other student housing community offers the cottage style homes that the retreat does. Literally a college students dream! Cons: If youre not the party type this probably isnt the place for you. I am currently a graduate student & found the party atmosphere a bit annoying at times. Just a week ago I went out to my car & found hot sauce splashed all over my drivers side door & window. This is the type of thing that drunk students like to do on the weekends. Also, although the cottages are very beautiful, it is obvious that they were built in a rush. I have had some small issues like my door knob coming unhinged & my shower faucet coming apart from the wall. Pests are an issue. Upon moving in in August we had ants take over the pantry & trash. There was also a centipede infestation throughout the community. I mean centipedes crawling all over the living room floor..it was gross.

I love where I live and the management and maintenance crew make it great for college living. The best pool in the entire ucf area. Granite countertops. It's college living so be sure you won't mind the occasional noise. I've lived here for two years now

I had a great experience as a resident at The Retreat. However, once I moved out I experienced many issues with management. First there were ridiculous charges on my move-out statement. For example, they charged me for a gate clicker when I never even received a gate clicker. It took them months to correct the mistakes they made on my move out statement and give me my deposit back. My second issue is that they continued to leave my name on the apartment subsequent to me moving out, so I was was still being charged for utilities by SimpleBills. I called The Retreat several times to resolve this issue. Each time I called they told me they would take care of it and never did. At the end of the day they are out to get and keep your money. Management moves at the pace of a snail with no regards for your time or money. Yes I enjoyed living here, but there isn’t anything that sets this apartment out from the rest. Moving in was a smooth process, but they made moving out an EXTREME hassle.

Value: Last year I moved into a Springmore which is a 4/4.5. To start, the house is huge. The rooms are spacious with a large walk-in closet albeit a smaller bathroom. The living room is large with a large kitchen. It’s a newer property and the house more or less reflects that. The property, however, does not. Throughout the year there was trash nearly everywhere all over the complex, which is probably reflective of how this complex being majority Greek life and the result of the frequent parties that occur here. During my tour, I was assured that there would never be overages and that it’s typically uncommon for a house to go over the utility cap. That was a big lie. Every month I got overages ranging from $5-$35. One month it was so bad management sent out a mass email (a result of probably a lot of complaints) to the residents trying to justify the unusually large overages that month. This place also literally charges you for everything. Want to live inside of the gates? Premium charge. Want to live by the pool? Premium charge. Want to live by literally amenity? Premium charge. Staff: With the exception of one or two employees, the staff is literally a joke. Almost every time I needed to go to the office to pick up a package the employees would swear to one another and throw stuff at each other because they didn’t want to be the ones to have to go get it. The CA Jada is, by far, one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. On move-in day I had questions for her and she literally “yepped” at me as she walked away to the back of the office. I don’t know what it is about her, but she seems to have an innate eye-roll reflex every time you talk to her or ask her a question. For whatever reason, the manager here feels the need to bring her Pomeranian to work. I can’t even count the number of times I went into the office just to be barked at. During a taco event, the dog peed in the clubhouse and she made another one of her employees clean up after it. Like... really? I’ve also seen her walk her dog in front of future residents parking (which is literally right in front of the office/clubhouse) and not pick up after it. I get that the employees here are college students, and this is just a “college job” but you’re representing a company that has invested a lot of money into this property... the least you can do is act professionally.

Had a problem recently with third party maintenance coming into our cottage and rooms unannounced and at one point the entered my roommates bathroom when she was gone and knocked over her straightener and shelf onto the ground and left the toilet seat up when she is a female and wouldn’t have left it up. All of the roommates contacted the main office and were all told that someone would get back to us. Myself and my mother have both called back 3 times each to try to get an answer as to why and how they can fix it in the future and are always told we will be followed up with and never are. i even went into the office in tears when men who were cleaning the air conditioning entered our unit without even ringing the door bell and then once i asked for a supervisor or for them to leave until i had official permission and they said no and continued working and didn’t have a supervisor name to give me. Still trying to figure out what is going on and how people are entering our cottage. Many problems have occurred before this such as a leaking window taking nearly a year to be repaired correctly.
